BenTzion’s personal journey is unique. Born in India, raised in Israel and living in the United States, BenTzion is gifted with a unique blending within his soul of three world cultures; all have left a profound mark on him and form the framework for his art. Youngest son, among 10 brothers and sisters in Bombay of Jewish, Kabbalist parents, he was an avid explorer of the sights and sounds of the city. His photographic memory allows him to bring the visions of this childhood into his work. His family life was cosmopolitan and open-minded toward the myriad expressions of humanity and respected the achievements of every culture. Chosen by his father to receive the oral instruction of esoteric Jewish mysticism, his resilience, optimism, and faith are the outcome of this familial example and teaching. One particularly vivid memory has shaped much of his work. At the age of five, he remembers avidly watching a yogi create a wonderful mandala with pigments on the ground in front of his house. The sight of the vibrant colors created a lifelong fascination with color and form. His experience with kites, kaleidoscopes, his passion for flowers and human form, religious signs and symbols and calligraphy, as well as his admiration for artists like Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Chagall, and Odilon Redon are a constant source of inspiration. Working in the still of the night, with his beloved music playing in the background, BenTzion draws on all these visions to create his spontaneous and intuitive creations.. Ten years ago, he was catapulted by a strange and powerful dream to begin his artistic career. The dream, so vivid and unusual, transformed him overnight. He began a mission to create art and to share his inspired vision of colors, forms, and figures. Since that time he has dedicated his life to this joy that he has found and hopes to use his inspirations to create brotherhood and love between people through his art. BenTzion has risen to international recognition with museum exhibitions,
and one-man shows. His works are found in numerous public and private
collections worldwide. |
